Starrett 799A-8/200 Digital Caliper, LCD, Battery Powered, 0-8

The Starrett 799A-8/200 digital caliper measures 0 to 8 inches and 0 to 200 mm with 0.0005” or 0.01 mm accuracy, and comes in a protective plastic case. This light, comfortable, and easy-to use measuring tool allows for reliable and accurate readings with the slim, streamlined design and large, easy-to-read LCD.

Lightweight, ergonomic design makes this caliper easy to use, even with one hand. The caliper can be used with one hand through operating the fine adjustment roll with the thumb. A lock screw can hold the slide in position. Depth rod is integrated into the rack of the caliper, unlike many calipers which offer a detachable depth rod, or none at all. The hardened stainless steel body offers corrosion resistance and long life. Single battery is easy to access, on the front of the plastic casing, next to the LCD. The last measurement position is retained when the caliper is shut off, and it is simple to zero the caliper at any position with the clearly marked zero button. Easy-to-read LCD is large, with 0.32” tall characters. The caliper shuts off automatically after five minutes of nonuse. Linear accuracy meets the internationally used Deutsches Institut fur Normung 862: Vernier Calipers Requirements and Testing (DIN 862) standards.

Calipers measure the distance between two opposing sides of an object. They make inside, outside, depth, or step measurements, according to their type. Calipers are commonly used in architecture, metalworking, mechanical engineering, machining, manufacturing, carpentry, and medicine. The simplest calipers have two legs to mark the two points and require a ruler to take the measurement. More complex calipers use two sets of jaws instead of legs and have up to two graduated scales. Vernier, dial, and digital calipers give direct and accurate readings and are functionally identical, having a calibrated scale with a fixed jaw, and another jaw with a movable pointer that slides along the scale. The vernier caliper has a scale sliding parallel to the main scale for an additional, fractional reading to improve measurement precision. The dial caliper has a circular dial with a pointer on a toothed gear rack replacing the second vernier scale. As with the vernier, this second measurement is added to the reading from the main scale to obtain the result. The dial caliper is used also for measuring size differential between two objects. The digital caliper takes the same sort of differential measurements as the dial caliper by zeroing the display at any point along the slide, with an LCD (replacing the dial) that displays a single, easily read value in both English and metric units. Some digital calipers can hold data readings between measurements and send them to data collection devices.

Cheap Starrett 120A-6 Dial Caliper, American Made, Inch, White Face, 0-6" Range, +/-0.001" Accuracy, 0.001" Graduation, In Fitted Plastic Case For Sale

Starrett 120A-6 Dial Caliper, American Made, Inch, White Face, 0-6

Starrett 120A-6 Dial Caliper, American Made, Inch, White Face, 0-6

The Starrett 120A-6 dial caliper measures 0 to 6 inches with 0.001” accuracy. This handy measuring tool allows for reliable and accurate readings with the sharp, black graduations on the no-glare, satin-finished bar, crisp lines on the white dial face, and knife edge contacts for inside and outside measurements.

One full revolution of the dial is equivalent to 0.100”. The jaw depths on this caliper are approximately 1-1/2” for the outside measuring jaws and 5/8" on the inside measuring jaws. The knife-edge contacts can be used to scribe parallel lines on the workpiece. This caliper can be used with one hand through operating the fine adjustment roll with the thumb. The lock screw locks the dial bezel and holds the sliding jaw in position. The depth rod is integrated into the rack of the caliper, unlike many calipers which offer a detachable depth rod, or none at all. The hardened stainless steel components, including the bar, measuring surfaces, rack, gears, and depth rod, offer corrosion resistance, increased accuracy, and long life. Positive split gear anti-backlash control offers increased accuracy over standard gear configurations. Backlash is the amount of clearance between mated gear teeth in the caliper controls, which prevents the gear teeth from jamming. It is undesirable to have much backlash due to the lack of precision offered by the increased amount of play between gears. Certain gear designs can minimize or eliminate backlash; split gear systems actually split the gear into two gears, each half as thick as the original gear. One of these gears is then fixed to the shaft while the other gear is allowed to turn. The free-turning gear is connected to coil springs that rotate it until all backlash in the control system has been eliminated. The rack teeth point down to keep foreign matter from clogging the gear operations. This prevents measurement errors where metal chips could interfere with proper caliper operation.

Calipers are commonly used in architecture, metalworking, mechanical engineering, machining, manufacturing, carpentry, and medicine. Mitutoyo 500-196-20 ABSOLUTE Digital Caliper, LCD, Battery Powered, Inch/Metric, 0-6"/0-150mm Range, +/-0.001" Accuracy, 0.0005"/0.01mm Resolution Overview

The Mitutoyo 500-196-20 ABSOLUTE 500 series digital caliper is one of Mitutoyo’s original MyCal Ez Digimatic digital calipers. It gives an absolute reading from zero rather than the last at-rest position. It is made of durable hardened stainless steel to shield its components and for use anywhere in the workshop. It uses Mitutoyo’s ABSOLUTE linear encoder technology, which allows you to “set and forget” the origin and measure in awkward or difficult locations.

This digital caliper has .295-inch/7.5-mm LCD characters and easy-to-reach function control buttons, such as Inch/Metric to convert measurements, Origin to set and retain the original measuring point, On/Off to automatically shut off the caliper after 30 minutes, and Zero/ABS (Absolute Scale) to zero-set the LCD display.

Although identical to dial and vernier calipers in its ability to make precise measurements, the digital caliper also has the LCD, which clearly shows values and increases reading reliability over the other types. The 500-196-20’s LCD also reflects all ABSOLUTE system activities. The Absolute Scale (ABS) function tracks the origin point you set—even after shutoff. With the caliper on again, you can immediately start measuring, without zero resetting or worrying about overspeed errors. You can "zero out" the LCD before making and comparing incremental measurements without having to subtract the first measurement from the second.

The 500-196-20 has the ABSOLUTE electrostatic capacitance linear encoder. It weighs approximately 1 lb (453 g) and has four-way measurement capability: outer diameter (OD), inner diameter (ID), depth, and step, where the butt end of the fixed jaw measures one end of a work piece before its upper/lower or inner/outer "steps" are measured. Jaw depth is 1.60”, Range is 0 to 6"/150 mm, LCD Resolution is .0005"/.01 mm, Repeatability is .0005"/.01 mm, and Accuracy is rated + or - .001"/.02 mm. Also included are origin-setting, zero-setting, inch-to-metric conversion, and on/off automatic shutoff function buttons. A Digital LCD Data Reading Hold function is available with the optional Data Hold Unit (959143), sold separately. An alarm alerts the user to low voltage and scale contamination and counting value composition errors. A rolling thumb wheel makes fine adjustments and a thumb screw locks the scale’s position. Response speed is unlimited. The caliper has no SPC (Statistical Process Control) output; it draws 1/4 the battery power when switched on and about 1/8 the battery power when switched off compared to other digital calipers. The SR44 silver oxide cell battery (938882) lasts for approximately 20,000 hours (3.5 years) of continual normal use and is recommended to maintain constant voltage levels.

A digital caliper is a measuring instrument commonly used for inspection in manufacturing. It has two pairs of jaws on one end attached to a long beam with a marked scale. It takes and displays measurements in both English and Metric units with high-resolution and gearless precision. It comes from the basic caliper, a device used to measure the distance between two opposing sides of an object. The digital caliper allows for the same sort of differential measurements as the dial caliper by zeroing the display at any point along the slide. However, its LCD has replaced the analog dial of the dial caliper with an electronic digital display of the measurement reading as an easily read single value. A digital caliper is commonly used in fields such as metalworking, mechanical engineering, machining, carpentry, and medicine.

Founded in Tokyo in 1934, Mitutoyo is a leader in the metrology field, producing high-quality measurement products, including mechanical, dimensional gauging products, focusing on micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other measurement tools, as well as output gauges, interfaces, data collectors, and analysis software. Mitutoyo formed Mitutoyo America Corporation in 1963, which is headquartered in Aurora, Illinois, with additional locations in the U.S. and Canada.

Mitutoyo 700-128 Plastic Digital Caliper, For DIY, LCD, Battery Powered, Metric, 0-150mm Range, +/-0.5mm Accuracy, 0.1mm Resolution Overview

The Mitutoyo 700-128 plastic caliper is a digital caliper with deep throat type jaws for outer diameter (OD) measurements from 0 - 150 mm. Digital LCD characters and durable plastic construction make this caliper suitable in a wide range of settings, including nurseries, medical offices, laboratories, and trade workshops. This caliper has accessible zero-setting and on/off function control buttons and uses the metric measuring system.

The 700-128 has the electrostatic capacitance type linear encoder. It weighs 163 g and measures outer diameter (OD). Its metric system uses a 0.1 mm gradient. The caliper’s length is 235 mm, jaw depth is 80 mm, jaw length is 65 mm, sliding LCD is 60 by 34 mm, and beam width is 16 mm. Range is 0 - 150 mm, resolution is 0.1 mm, and accuracy is rated + or - 0.05 mm. Also included are zero-setting and power on/off function buttons. An alarm alerts the user to low voltage and counting value composition errors. A rolling thumbwheel makes fine adjustments and a thumbscrew locks the scale’s position. Response speed is 1,800 mm/s. The SR44 silver oxide cell battery (part 938882) lasts approximately 2 years with normal use.

Vernier, dial, and digital calipers all give direct and accurate readings and are functionally identical, having a calibrated scale with a fixed jaw and another jaw with a movable pointer that slides along the scale. The dial caliper is used for measuring size differential between two objects, as well. The digital caliper takes the same sort of differential measurements as the dial caliper by zeroing the display at any point along the slide, with an LCD (replacing the dial) that displays a single, easily read value in both English and metric units. Some digital calipers can hold data readings between measurements and send them to data collection devices.

Mitutoyo manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology equipment, and systems. The company was founded in Tokyo in 1934 and formed Mitutoyo America Corporation in 1963, which is headquartered in Aurora, IL.
